Hmong Student Association

The Hmong Student Association of San Luis Obispo is a group of individuals who seeks to support each other academically and helps improve the retention rate of first year generation students. At the same time, we strive to bring awareness about the Hmong Culture to the San Luis Obispo community.  

 

HSA SLO was established and founded in April 2013 with the help of our two faculty advisors, Dr. Grace Yeh and Dr. Herlina Pranata.

 

For these next coming years, we hope to reach the following goals:

 

• Increasing the retention rates of first year generation students

• Bringing awareness about the Hmong Culture

• Striving for academic success and retaining our club members

• Creating a “home away from home”

• Encouraging students to utilize available campus resources

• Partnering with various Hmong Organizations across California

• Partnering with Multicultural Organizations

• Creating an outreach program for high school students

• Promoting STEM education

• Maintaining an alumni network
